Overview

Immerse yourself in Uganda for 18 days visiting the country’s popular tourist destinations. The adventure starts in Jinja, the source of the Nile, Sipi falls and a remarkable game viewing experience in Kidepo Valley National Park and Murchison Falls National Park. Rewarding treks in Uganda’s rainforests in search of the primates and boat trips on the country’s fresh water bodies.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Entebbe and transfer to the hotel

Arrive in Entebbe, Uganda, a country of stunning green vegetation, deep lakes, gentle slopping mountains and rich biodiversity. Our representative shall receive you and drive you to your accommodation for refreshment and resting. He will also brief you about the trip.

Optional: You may decide to do a city tour around Entebbe or visit the Mabamba Swamp for a birding experience

Day 2: Drive to Jinja

Take your breakfast so early and embark on a journey along the picturesque route toward Jinja, via Mabira Forest. Branch off to the Sezibwa Falls, a Buganda cultural site with beautiful waterfalls and a birding site. Proceed to Holland Park where you will have a relaxed evening.

Day 3: Visit the source of the Nile and drive to Sipi falls

After early breakfast, you will have a boat trip to the Source of the Nile. Return to the lodge, checkout and drive to Sipi Falls in Kapchorwa District. The Sipi Falls are a series of three waterfalls situated in the foothills of Mount Elgon. Check in at your accommodation and relax.

Day 4: Hike to the Sipi Falls and do a community walk seasoned with a coffee experience

After breakfast head out for a 3 – 4 hours trek up and down the foothills of Mount Elgon visiting each of the three waterfalls and enjoying the spectacular views from up Mount Elgon to the flat plains of Karamojong in the distance.
Return to the lodge for lunch and prepare for your community walk in the afternoon and a unique African coffee experience. Learn how it is made from the plantation to the cup.

Day 5: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park

Have early today breakfast and embark on a long journey to the northern region of the country straight to Kidepo Valley National Park, a True African Wilderness. You will have a lunch en-route.

Day 6 – 7: Full day wildlife viewing in Kidepo Valley National Park

Wake up for an early cup of tea/breakfast and head out for the early game drive in the Narus Valley, which is unique for its permanent water source. Most animals converge in this valley.
Kidepo Valley National Park is endowed with remarkable wilderness and lots of wildlife including lions, and buffaloes (the park has got the largest population of buffaloes in a single herd). Other animals found in this park are elephants, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, cheetahs, ostriches, jackals, dik-dik, gazelles.

Return to the lodge for hot lunch before heading out again for a further game viewing in the valley.

Day 8: Morning game drive. Visit the Karamojong communities

Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and do a game drive in the valley. Return to the lodge for lunch and prepare.

This afternoon you visit to the Manyattas-Karamojong homestead visit where will have encounters with the herdsmen and the Endoga dance performance.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park

Today we drive to Murchison Falls National Park the home of the world’s most powerful waterfalls. Stopover for a lunch break and proceed to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay

Day 10: Morning game drive, afternoon boat cruise, and a visit to the top of the falls

Have breakfast and get ready for a morning game drive to encounter with the early risers such as the lions, elephants, buffalos, giraffes, antelopes, waterbucks, warthogs, jackals and birds.

Return to the lodge, refresh and have lunch as you prepare for the 2-3 hours boat trip to the bottom of the Murchison waterfalls this afternoon spotting crocodiles, hippos, elephants, buffalos and several birds along the banks of the Victoria Nile. Visit the top of the falls and then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Drive to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, checkout and drive to Kibale National Park, the primate capital. Driving along the scenic Albertine rift valley escarpment and the countryside fall in love with the scenic views. You shall have lunch enroute in Fort Portal and proceed to your accommodation.

Day 12: Chimpanzee tracking and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Rise early this morning for the start of your chimpanzee trek. Barks of baboons occasionally overflow the forest’s silence as you make your way along the trail.

Return to the lodge to refresh and have lunch then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 13: Game drive afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga channel

Have breakfast and go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains and beyond. Expect to see lions, elephants, buffalos, antelopes, warthogs, and several bird species. Return to the lodge for lunch.

This afternoon, go for a 2-hour boat cruise on the hippo concentrated Kazinga Channel connecting Lake George to Lake Edward. Do a short sunset game drive enroute to hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 14: Game drive in the Ishasha Sector – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you will do a morning game drive going through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park which is famed for tree-climbing lions as you make your way to the famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park the home of mountain gorillas.

Day 15: Gorilla tracking!!

After an early breakfast and briefing from the guides of Uganda Wildlife Authority, set off for the gorilla tracking in the tropical rain forest of Bwindi. The activity starts at 8.00am and you join the other members according to the distribution of the gorilla families, only eight visitors per family each day.
We advise you to carry snacks, enough drinking water, rain jacket in case of rain and trekking boots a walking stick. If you are not sure of your fitness you might hire a porter and pay him a tip to help you carrying the bag. It is unpredictable how long will take to find the primates as they freely move into the forest.
However the encounter with the gorillas, lasting for about one hour, certainly is a rewarding experience and an unforgettable one. After the trekking you go back to the lodge at leisure.

Day 16: Golden monkey tracking

After an early morning breakfast, carry our snacks and head to the park headquarters. On arrival, you receive a briefing from the park rangers on the dos and don’ts of golden monkey tracking. Thereafter, go to the jungle for golden monkey trekking.

Unlike gorilla tracking, golden monkey tracking is more interesting and fun as the pretty primates be jumping and swinging from tree to tree cheerfully swinging the tail. Golden monkey tracking visitor are allowed to take photos with either flash light cameras or non-flash light cameras.

Transfer to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 17: Drive to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. Stopover in Mbarara city for lunch and proceed to the park for an optional evening game drive. See the wildlife such as zebras, giraffes, antelopes among others.

Day 18: An optional activity in the morning and travel back to Kampala

Do an optional activity. Transfer to Entebbe Airport for your outbound flight back home.

Stopover at the Equator monument for a cup of coffee and photo break.

UGANDA AND RWANDA VISA INFORMATION

Uganda Visa Information

  • Tourist visas to Uganda MUST be applied for online prior to travel. Visitors are advised to upload all required documentation, online visa applications are made at https://visas.immigration.go.ug/

  • Visitors should not overstay their visa validity otherwise they will be subjected to a fine of U$ 30 per day and other appropriate legal action.
  • Visitors who seek to stay longer than the period granted on arrival, extension of the period should be sought from the Immigration Headquarters in Kampala before expiry of the initial visitor’s pass. All visitors must comply with immigration legislation and other national laws of the country during their stay in Uganda. For further information on immigration go to: mia.go.ug

Rwanda Visa Information

  • Citizens of all countries are allowed to get visa upon arrival without prior application. Apply online here.
  • Citizens of country members to the African Union, Commonwealth and La Francophonie can get free visas upon arrival in Rwanda for a visit of 30 days.
  • A citizen of East African Community Member States can receive a pass/entry visa free of charge upon arrival for a six-month stay in Rwanda.
  • Visitors from the following countries can be granted 90-day visas at no cost upon arrival in Rwanda: Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, The Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Haiti, Mauritius, Philippines, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Sao Tome and Principe, Singapore and the State of Qatar.
  • Citizens of countries that are not visa exempt have an option of applying online or at the Rwanda Diplomatic Mission of the country of residence before departure. Those applying online have the option to pay online or upon arrival. There is no single affiliated agent that is authorised to apply for a visa on your behalf.
  • The visa fees must not exceed 50 USD for single entry visa or 70 USD for multiple entry.

What to Pack for This Adventure

Planning a safari in Uganda or Rwanda can be an exciting experience, but it’s essential to ensure that you pack all the necessary items for a comfortable trip. Here’s a list of items you need to pack:

Clothing – The weather can be unpredictable, so bring lightweight and breathable clothing that can be layered. Long-sleeved shirts and pants are great for protection against mosquitoes, while waterproof jackets are crucial for rainy seasons.

Footwear – Comfortable and sturdy hiking boots are ideal for walking on the rough and uneven terrain. Open-toe shoes and sandals are not recommended.

Sun Protection – Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen with a high SPF rating to protect from the intense sun while on safari.

Insect Repellent – Mosquitoes and other insects are present throughout the parks, so carry a potent insect repellent.

Binoculars – A good pair of binoculars will help you spot wildlife from a distance and enhance your overall safari experience.

Camera – A camera or a smartphone with a great camera will allow you to capture memorable experiences while on safari.

Medications – Don’t forget to carry a personal first aid kit with essentials such as pain relievers, antihistamines, and anti-diarrhea medicine.

Finally, pack light as some of the safari lodges or accommodations have luggage weight restrictions. Plan accordingly to avoid any surprises and make the most of your adventurous journey.
