It costs money to track mountain gorillas. The price of a gorilla trekking permit in Rwanda increased in 2017; it now costs US$1,500. There are only 12 habituated groups of gorillas that may be seen by visitors in Volcanoes National Park, and each group can only be visited by a maximum of eight people per day.
